HIS ROLE

David Hayes is chairman of the board and chief revenue officer at Skyline Enterprises. He joined the company in 1996, and served as chief executive officer from 2005 to 2022.

David is responsible for leading Skyline’s board of directors and ensuring their expertise, insights and relationships align with business goals and are activated on the company’s behalf. He works with the board of directors on issues including risk management, compliance, and reporting. David also leads the business development team, identifies and evaluates merger and acquisition prospects and supports executive-level recruiting.

HIS BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE

David’s experience and long tenure with Skyline Enterprises has made him one of the industry’s most celebrated experts and advocates. While CEO at Skyline, he reorganized the company into a 100% employee-owned organization, led numerous acquisitions and positioned the company for growth. In the last five years, his collaboration with CEO Jessica Carps has more than tripled revenue to well over half a billion dollars.

David has a track record of success with mergers and acquisitions. Under his watch, Skyline acquired and integrated Unimark and Servicemark into the Skyline network, adding significantly to the company’s capabilities, geographic reach and revenue.  He also led the company’s efforts to open offices in Chicago, San Diego and Austin. David’s deep connections and relationships have helped Skyline identify and recruit top talent, making the organization one of the most admired in the commercial real estate industry.

ALI BEDWELL

Vice President of Brand Strategy 

HER ROLE

Ali leads the Branding and Marketing team and is responsible for Skyline’s branding policies, objectives and initiatives, including market positioning, corporate messaging, visual presence, digital channels, and feedback and listening tools.

HER BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE

Ali has been a tremendous asset to Skyline since 2007. She graduated from UC Davis with degrees in both interior and graphic design, and worked as a graphic designer in the A/E/C industry prior to joining Skyline. Ali has guided Skyline through a full brand overhaul, developing a consistent, cohesive and memorable brand presence in the Bay Area construction industry. She is creative and process oriented, driven to create efficiency and streamline work while using data to identify possible solutions.

HER MANAGEMENT PHILOSOPHY

Ali believes in team collaboration, coaching from the trenches, and rolling up her sleeves to get down and dirty with her team. She subscribes to the notion that internal communication strategies are even more important than external brand awareness. Ali focuses much of her efforts equipping the Skyline team with the technology, tools and messages to work efficiently, speak confidently and act as owners of the firm.

HER INTERESTS AND HOBBIES

Ali is an avid traveler, coming from a family of travel agents, and she lived in Dublin, Ireland after graduating from college. She loves to ski so much that she skied “down the aisle” during her wedding ceremony–in full gown. She spends her weekends exploring Northern California with her husband, son and labradoodle.

As Vice President of IT & Security, Deepak oversees the implementation of emerging construction technology and is responsible for the secure operation of all aspects of technology including network, server, data-protection, communication/collaboration tools and applications. Deepak brings 20+ years of hands-on technology leadership, strategy, visionary experience and expertise in IT infrastructure, cyber security, data-center virtualization, cloud, corp/biz applications engineering, DevOps, and governance risk management & compliance (GRC) practices/controls. He is recognized as a global IT strategist and a trusted IT advisor who builds and manages global teams while aligning business needs with technology solutions. Deepak’s experience ranges from early stage startups all the way to global enterprise and fortune 50/500 multi-billion dollar revenue/capital conglomerates. In his former consulting practice, he worked on projects in multiple verticals including financial, healthcare, system-integrators, retail, manufacturing, auto, utility/energy, cloud/security providers, ITCs and more. Deepak has actively participated in numerous mergers and acquisitions and has lead teams to fully integrate technology platforms.

MANAGEMENT STYLE

Deepak believes that everyone has potential to grow with focus, determination and a can-do attitude. He manages his team through strong collaboration, cross-functional communication and places an emphasis on empowering individuals to grow their careers through mentorship. ZACH TONEY

Project Manager

Zach is responsible for each aspect of ACCEND’s projects from estimating to close-out. He creates construction schedules and budgets by engaging directly with clients, architects, subcontractors and vendors.

BACKGROUND & EXPERIENCE

Zach graduated from Mississippi State University with a degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering. Zach is an expert in tenant improvement construction and enjoys the fast paced nature of these projects. His previous experience includes playing minor league baseball for the Chicago White Sox.  Zach was drawn to the construction industry given his passion for problem solving and working together as a team.

MANAGEMENT STYLE

Zach considers himself a “work hard – play hard” kind of person. He enjoys keeping his projects up-beat and fun, but is sure to hold everyone accountable and expects team members to do the same. He is a team player who thrives in a cooperative environment. Zach values his role as a mentor and coach.

Diane is responsible for developing best-in-class HR solutions as the Skyline family of companies expands into new markets and locations.

Diane enjoys every outdoor activity from skiing to hiking and running. Diane also has a love for sports overall.  In particular, you will find her on a soccer field most weekends cheering and supporting various local soccer teams.

Jared is responsible for the administration of all legal matters associated with the management and operation of Skyline’s family of companies.

HIS BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE

Jared’s 10 years of legal experience spans the areas of real estate, trademarks and securities, mergers and acquisitions and commercial contracts. Prior to joining Skyline, Jared served as Corporate Counsel at SAFE Security. Jared holds a Bachelor of Arts, Political Science from the University of California, San Diego and a Juris Doctor from University of California, Hastings College of the Law.

HIS WORK PHILOSOPHY

Jared values efficiency, strategic thinking and clear communication.  Jared believes the complex and dynamic legal issues in this industry are best tackled by a smart team that acts swiftly to manage risk and achieve results.  In the words of John Wooden, “be quick, but don’t hurry.”

Jim’s favorite toys growing up were Legos. He loved how each block fit together to create complex designs and structures. His excitement and fascination with building and construction grew over the years and pushed him to pursue a degree in Construction Management from Western Michigan University. Out of college, Jim landed his first job with a small general contractor specializing in fast-faced projects. It was there that Jim learned that careful and thoughtful planning is imperative for project success. As his career advanced, Jim worked to educate the industry on the importance of technology and the benefits it has to the construction industry. Jim led his previous employer to implement new technology and bring them to the forefront of the industry.
